Legal 500 to publish first GC Powerlist in India - IBG appointed knowledge partner

The Legal 500, the leading global legal directory, will publish its first General Counsel Powerlist in India on 18th November 2016 at an exclusive and high profile ceremony in New Delhi.

The GC Powerlist series from The Legal 500 (based in London) highlights the most influential in-house lawyers in business today. Over the last 3 years, the series has covered regions and countries over the globe: recent lists include: UK, USA, France, Italy, Iberia, Germany, Africa, Middle East, Nordics, Switzerland, Russia and Ireland.

The GC Powerlist for India is the latest edition to the series, recognising 100 individuals that are known for their outstanding work in the country. The individuals featured on the list are representatives of a growing and changing in-house legal market in India. Through a comprehensive research process, which includes nominations, background research and interviews, the most deserving general counsel are chosen to appear on the list.

The final GC Powerlist summarises each lawyer’s achievements in their career so far, indicating why their work makes them stand out in the legal market. Each individual has made a demonstrable impact on their team, company or industry through innovative approaches to their everyday work.  The individuals are not ranked in order of position, or by quotas according to industry sectors, the GC Powerlist for India simply highlights the best that the in-house market has to offer.

The Legal 500 is delighted to have collaborated with the India Business Group, the leading advisory consultancy, to deliver this exciting initiative. Amarjit Singh, CEO of the India Business Group, said: ‘The India Business Group is very pleased to be assisting The Legal 500 with production and launch of its inaugural GC Powerlist for India, particularly at a time when the Indian economy is going from strength to strength.  It has been a pleasure to work with The Legal 500 team, and advise on key strategic matters in the Indian market’.

GC Powerlist: India will be unveiled at an exclusive event to be held on the evening of 18th November at the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi, bringing together the individuals included on the list to discuss, network and share experiences in a celebratory setting.  The findings of GC Powerlist: India will be available to view as a print supplement which will be distributed to the legal sector in the region and will also be available to view online via The Legal 500 website (www.legal500.com).

‘The Legal 500 has used its 30 years of legal market research to create the GC Powerlist series. The in-house legal profession has been growing in countries across the globe in the face of cost-conscious businesses, increasing regulatory scrutiny and a paradigm shift in the approach to risk. The Indian in-house market is a fine example of this change. The Indian edition of the GC Powerlist highlights some of the most impressive in-house individuals in the country, covering a range of domestic and international companies, as well as public sector. Congratulations to everyone that made the list’.
